Gainsborough Christmas Open Days
VERIFIED EVENT LISTING
Two festive afternoon openings of Gainsborough's permanent O gauge railway, with scenes inspired by the route from King's Cross to Leeds.
About this event
Gainsborough Model Railway Society opens its permanent O gauge railway on Sunday 27 and Monday 28 December 2026.
Follow the model route north from King’s Cross through places including Hornsey, Hitchin, Retford and Doncaster towards Leeds. Station scenes, carriage sidings and goods yards show different sides of railway operation, with much more to watch than trains circulating past a single viewpoint.
Opening is 1.30–5.30pm, with last admission at 4.30pm. Entry is cash only: adults £5, children £4 and a family of two adults and two children £15. The main room and café have ramp access, but a large step restricts access to other parts.
There is no parking at the clubrooms or on Florence Terrace. The society recommends nearby roadside parking on Sandsfield Lane; Gainsborough Lea Road station is approximately a 15-minute walk away.
