About this event

Nottingham Autumn Model Railway Show 2026 guide

Nottingham Model Railway Society brings its autumn exhibition to Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, Mere Way, Ruddington, NG11 6JS, on 19–20 September. The show combines visiting layouts and demonstrations with the wider heritage centre’s railway attractions.

Opening times and admission

Open Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 10am–4pm. Adult exhibition admission is £7; accompanied under-16s enter free. Major credit and debit cards are accepted. Parking costs £3 per vehicle, administered through RingGo, with card payment available.

Layouts to look out for

Deepcar recreates the Woodhead route in British Rail blue, including working overhead equipment. The official programme has 12 named layout entries, with Holgate Castle and The Oast House grouped together. Subjects range from Americana and Wire Mill Drive’s American HO scenes to Polish station Tyskie, narrow-gauge Llwm and the modern HST depot Venture Park. A Thomas & Friends layout offers children an operating opportunity.

Traders and demonstrations

Tony Wright’s Loco Clinic is a highlight for locomotive builders. Dave Jones presents The Railway Goes to War, while Rob Law of Skog Carriage and Wagon Works demonstrates 3D-printed O-gauge wagons. Anoraks Anonymous, Sherwood Models and TTC Diecast join Skog and the NMRS second-hand sales stand.

Make a day of Ruddington

Ruddington Model Railway Club’s permanent layouts and the Heritage Café are also available. Miniature railway rides are planned from noon on both days, subject to weather and volunteers. The heritage railway separately advertises steam services; check train fares and departure times with it, as the £7 price is exhibition admission.

The organiser recommends travelling via Nottingham station and continuing by bus. Services stop in Ruddington or near the country park, with a walk to the venue; check the day-specific routes on the official guide. This area is not served by the tram.

Checked 11 September 2026 against the official NMRS programme and heritage railway event information. The full organiser’s show guide is due online shortly before the weekend, with no printed edition planned.
