Gainsborough December Open Day
VERIFIED EVENT LISTING
An afternoon viewing Gainsborough's permanent O gauge railway, with cash-only admission and a café in the historic clubrooms.
About this event
The society’s December open day takes place on Sunday 6 December 2026 at its former schoolhouse on Florence Terrace, Gainsborough, DN21 1BE.
The permanent O gauge railway interprets the journey from King’s Cross to Leeds. Look for the London terminus and Hornsey carriage sidings, the goods workings at Ferme Park and the station scenes at Retford and Doncaster. The combination of passenger movements, locomotive facilities and freight yards rewards a leisurely look around.
Opening is 1.30–5.30pm, with last admission at 4.30pm. Entry is cash only: adults £5, children £4 and a family of two adults and two children £15. The main room and café have ramp access, but a large step restricts access to other parts.
There is no parking at the clubrooms or on Florence Terrace. The society recommends nearby roadside parking on Sandsfield Lane; Gainsborough Lea Road station is approximately a 15-minute walk away.
