A locomotive cab can look surprisingly empty without a crew. Modelu’s September figure selection, covered by Rails of Sheffield on 5 October 2026, offers a few interesting ways to put that right.
The range includes the Reverend W. Awdry, with different scale and finish options, plus crews intended for Rapido’s S160 and Midland Railway 483 Class and Dapol’s 517 Class.
I particularly like the idea of choosing figures around a particular cab rather than hoping a generic pair will fit. It still pays to check the exact pack, model and scale: a convincing pose is only half the job if the figure then fouls the cab roof or glazing.
Unpainted and full-colour options appear across the selection, so check the individual listing rather than assuming every version comes finished. Painting a crew can also be a manageable little evening project for anyone wanting to try figure work.
